Jobs and Skills Development
Build municipal skills and productive local economies that create work.
Why this programme matters
Mayibuye proposes to transition municipalities from passive tender-issuing offices into active productive agencies. By insourcing essential work, training local youth in municipal technical workshops, and linking public procurement directly to local manufacturing and agriculture, the movement commits to sustainable, dignified employment that maintains public infrastructure.
Three principal commitments
Rebuild technical teams and expand direct municipal employment and practical training.
Link apprenticeships, internships and work placements to real service and maintenance needs.
Support local industrial production, agriculture, enterprises, cooperatives and the care economy.
Implementation and governance standards
These commitments represent proposed municipal programmes under the Afrika Mayibuye Movement 2026 Local Government Manifesto. All infrastructure expansion, appointments, insourcing, and land releases will be conducted in full compliance with lawful municipal procurement statutes, intergovernmental financial standards, and environmental regulations.
